Vent d’est Vent d’ouest is a delicate lace smoke ring that shields your neck from the wind. Knitting happens on a short circular needle, so the tube grows quickly with no seaming at all. A gentle flare at one edge lets the fabric drape softly around your shoulders. Less than one skein of lace yarn covers the whole lace cowl, which makes it a lovely way to use a treasured single skein. The finished piece measures about 22 inches around and 18 inches long. Charts and written directions both come included, in English and in French. Soft heathered shades let the openwork shine, while a rich jewel tone feels dressy.
